Earlier this year I was desirous to visit Chicago and made arrangements to go. What an interesting place. I was impressed with the people, at least the ones opportunity afforded the chance to met. The deep dish pizza was incredible. I really enjoyed the Art Institute Museum, I really wish I had more time to visit all of the others, but it will be nice to go and enjoy them with other people later on. The roads are in terrible condition. My rental car got a flat from one of the billion gaping potholes all around, cost $300 for some reason, perhaps the money goes to pay for the million dollar silver bean.
I'd hate to be here during the upcoming turmoil, When the shelves are all empty people are going to go raving mad at a level beyond anything anyone here is used to or can hardly dream of.
It so happens that my grandmothers parents and grandparents grew up in Chicago, many of them migrated from Europe, they are from Norway, Sweden, Netherlands and Germany. So while I was in the area it was very nice to take some time to visit their graves.
On the way of dropping off the rental at the airport I was so exhausted from driving all day and being up so long that I almost ran a 4 way stop sign. A police truck happened to be in the intersection at the time and pulled next to me and said, "Boy you almost hit me", I never have had a black man talk to me in this type of situation and I cracked a smile. He said, "What you smiling at?, It's not funny", I couldn't take it, the novelty of the situation was more than could be borne. He yelled, "It's not funny!", "It's not funny!". I am not racist at all, it just was such a foreign scenario in such an awkward circumstance that it tickled my already robust character. It was a loop of him yelling and me getting off on it! Finally somehow I was able to straighten out and I explained to him that I was so exhausted and was just about to turn in the car. He just shook his head and drove off. I actually had a very pleasant talk with him later on in the airport where I spotted him on security patrol. He said in one of the warmest voices I've ever heard, "Get some rest son, It's all better now".
